AIMing For Him

Nearing The End of One More Adventure

I am back from a trip with my AIM class in which we went to help with the Hurricane Katrina relief in New Orleans. This was such an amazing trip and I have realized a lot more so the abundant blessings that God has given me and America as a whole yet I believe that many of us, including myself at times, take for granted. The work that we did in New Orleans was to go into houses that had not been touched really since the Hurricane which was almost 7 months ago, and we were to take everything out of the house including furniture and fridges until there was nothing but the frame of the house and the studs left. We cleared out about 13 houses the entire week which was pretty good considering there were about 60 of us included AIMers and Staff that came with us. We were told by the director of the Hurricane Relief organization, which is called Hilltop Rescue, that we were one of the hardest working groups that he had seen since they started the organization. It is funny because Hilltop as a whole has done such amazing work, with only 2800 volunteers since the beginning of the organization they have cleared out nearly 1800 houses.

This is a picture to show the huge piles of trash on the sidewalks from the houses that we and other groups cleared out during the week.

Here is a picture of me hard at work throwing drywall unto an already large pile of trash from the house we were working on.

In other news, I am now only two weeks away from completing my 8 months of training in Lubbock, amazing to think that I have been here for such a short time yet I have grown so much and have changed so much because of that growth. God has really put me through a lot of things while going through AIM that I believe has shaped me into a greater image of Him each day. I know also that this is only the beginning of the awesome plan that God has for me, and I continually pray that God leads me throughout this life to greater further His Kingdom and to grow closer to Him each day.
