AIMing For Him

Always Learning, Always Growing

So AIM is going great as usual. This term of classes seems a lot easier then the last term but I think it is just me getting use to the way things work here in AIM and even though it seems easy I am defintetly still growing and learning a lot. Speaking of the way things work, we were discussing today in class about how in Acts the Apostles and Paul spoke the Gospel and continued with the same message throughout their lives but how they presented the message changed. In the beginning of Acts they used a lot of references to Jewish History and prophecy and towards the end the used a more "gentile" way of presenting the Gospel through examples like Paul speaking about the idol that said TO AN UNKNOWN GOD. So taking that example for today's generation, we as Christians need to present the Gospel in a way that attracts the interest of people of this generation. That's why I think it is awesome that at Metro with the Youth Group They do Highway on Wednesday nights because I know, at least in my case, that people I brought from school loved Highway just because it was time to hang out, mess around and not have to worry about schoolwork or the stress of life. Then the singing was awesome and the lesson appealed to them also. I mean even if they weren’t a Christian my friends would say that they got something out of the lesson just to be a better person or even think about Spiritual things and that is awesome. So to the Metro Youth Group that read this please, for the lost sake, keep Highway and other events that help reach out together and keep them edifying because although you may not see the impact that it is making there is definitely an impact there and even though your friends may come just to hang out or to play Halo or whatever but just as Travis has said a couple of times, "You may come to hang out, play video games, or even for the ladies but I want you to come away knowing God better," or something to that extent. That is what is most important and that is what I am learning day in and day out in AIM that people are most important and doing whatever you can, besides changing the Gospel itself, to bring the Message to the lost. Well thank you all again for helping me through support and prayers and love to learn and do all that I am in AIM, I will hopefully be sending out a newsletter soon to have as a way of just presenting all that I have written on this blog in a publication.

A New Day Brings New Adventures

So I've been traveling a lot this past week with AIM and after we got back I started some new classes so it's definitely been quite hectic in my life right now. As for the trip though this pretty much how it went about:
We started out from Lubbock and went to Springfield, Missouri, stayed the night there at United Way Church of Christ. Then went to St. Louis and saw the Gateway to the west, which I will have pictures of when I get back in my next entry. Then after that we traveled to Paducah, Kentucky and stayed there for a couple of days. The rest of the AIMers and me hung out/worked with the youth group at Lone Oak Church of Christ which is in Paducah and I met some awesome guys and gals from the youth group there and in the rest of the church. A guy named Darin especially made an impression on me because it was the first time he had ever heard about AIM when we came and thus because of us he now wants to go to AIM in 2007, which will be when my sister, Tiffany, goes and also when I will be getting off the field and graduating. Well after we left Paducah we traveled to Mt. Carmel, Illinois and stayed the night there. Fellow AIMers Carl, Chris and I got to spend the night on a dairy farm, which was quite an interesting experience. Then we have made our way to Harding to participate in the World Missions Workshop, which was great and inspiring. I met a lot of new friends and saw some old friends that I haven't seen in quite some time like Kara, who I have known since I was a baby, and Donny and Morgan, from Metro. Man do I miss all you guys and gals from Metro and I can't wait till I come back for Christmas. I also miss my family of course and you know it is a little hard being away from home and not being able to talk to any of you as much as I wish I could because I am so busy but you know the Lord asks us to make sacrifices sometimes and persevere through things and that's what I'm doing.
Although it is sometimes tough not being with all of you remember that you all are always in my thoughts and prayers and I hope that I am also in yours. I know that as the Lord wills I am going to see you all again and so I try to continue in each day remember this saying, a new day brings new adventures. That quote is how I went to live my life and that is just another reason why I love being here in AIM.

In Christ,
Zachary W.
